Edward James Olmos and Tito Puente Family Bringing Legacy to Life

Hollywood is bringing the life and legacy of Mambo King Tito Puente to a series of productions, thanks to Edward James Olmos. Olmos and the Puente family have come



to an agreement to commemorate the 20th anniversary of his passing. Among the projects includes a documentary, an album with some of his greatest music, and a movie. His son, Tito Puente, Jr., told Billboard Magazine “My father is truly missed and remembered, and Mr. Olmos is going to bring light to someone who impacted Latin American culture in general.”




Tito Puente's life was legendary from making one of the greatest hit songs, Oye Como Va, to bringing Latin Jazz to the forefront and to appearing on the Sesame Street show. Throughout his incredible career and life included being in the US Navy and serving in World War II, he toured extensively with his partner in crime, the Queen of Salsa, Celia Cruz, receive 5 Grammy awards and has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.




Edward James Olmos will be bringing these projects to a reality and giving tribute to his friend and music legend Tito Puete. He told Deadline, “Tito’s story is timeless because it shows the entire world that you can start from humble beginnings, but through your passion, discipline and hard work — and a great sense of humor — you can still change the world.”
